December 2009: I was born in Worthington, MN  on January 6th, the feast of the Epiphany. I met my husband in St. Cloud, MN while I was attending college there. Paul and I were married for 35 years and have four sons: Steve, 31; Joe, 30; Pete, 28; and John, 25.   Steve lives with us and helps us around the house. He's still looking for that perfect job as a truck driver. Our second son, Joe, got married July, 2005, to a lovely young lady, Ann. Perhaps some of you remember Mrs. Hoffmann, Jr. around TGS (or some called her Mrs. Hoffmann, the 2nd). Ann took a job in Serena as the middle school PE, Health, and Social Studies teacher. She's been at Serena for several years now and plays softball on Wednesday nights during the summer! Our third son, Pete, made us grandparents twice now. Matthew Benjamin was born on Sept. 16, 2005 weighing in at 6 lbs. 12 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long.  It was a beautiful experience seeing our first grandchild being born. I'm loving being a "Grandma"! Matthew is now almost 4 years old and goes to preschool. We celebrated his 4th birthday in September! My heart just melts when he walks up to me and says, "Hi Grandma!" Then he gives me a kiss and a hug! What a sweetheart!!  Our 2nd grandson, Zachary, was born July 5, 2007 weighing in at 7 pounds 19 1/2 inches long. Again, I got to see our grandson come into this world! It was awesome! Zachary was born with lots of blonde hair which sticks straight up now! We celebrated Zachary's second birthday this past July 2009! Our last son, John, and his wife, Emily, graduated in May, 2007 from Bradley University with a Civil Engineering degree. They live in Oswego, IL where John works as a civil engineer in Sugar Grove. John and Emily got married September 27, 2008. I'm very proud to have Emily as part of our family! We all had a blast at their wedding!! Many of my family and Paul's older brother came from MN. We were so thankful that they came to help us celebrate that joyous day! Now, since John and Emily live in Oswego, I don't get to see them as much as I would like to. But I cherish the times when we do get together.

As many of you know, I lost my husband, Paul, on Sept. 17, 2009. He was sick for two weeks with what we thought was the flu. He would not go to a Doctor. When he finally went to the hospital, it was too late. He had pneumonia and ended up having a cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, he had brain damage as a result of the cardiac arrest. He was reluctantly removed from all life support and allowed to go home to the Lord. We miss him a lot!! He was quite a unique man! At least I had 35 years with him and have a beautiful family as a result!

Besides playing with and being with my grandsons in my spare time, I also enjoy meeting other women in my business and making them look and feel pretty.  Beauty is just a click away! I graduated from St. Cloud State College in St. Cloud, MN a long time ago with a degree in Elementary Education. Since moving out of MN in 1980, we have lived in Ohio, Michigan, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. My husband's job took us to these different places. Since coming to IL  almost 18 years ago, I have been studying about computers and I learned a great deal from our previous technician, Mr. Richards, and our current technician, Mrs. Mentgen. I presently hold a Networking Certificate from IVCC.

History of the Computer Lab: This is my 15th year at Tonica Grade School. I believe that I was the first person hired by Mr. B.  The computer lab has changed tremendously in the 15 years thanks to Mr. B.'s belief in the future of technology and to our new superintendent/principal, Mr. Wolf.  The lab started with Apple IIG, Apple IIGS, and Macintoshes. Since 1994, we now have an awesome Computer Lab of 30 Dell and HP PCs and 5+ Macintoshes. ( I just couldn't get rid of those Macs!) Every classroom also has 2 or 3 Dell computers. Any time you want to come in and visit, come on in! Go to the office and get a pass. Then come down to the Computer Lab. I welcome any visitors! We have several large classes this year (2009-2010); it is difficult for two people to help everyone. I will tell you what I want you to do, if you'd like to help for a class. It's pretty easy! Hope to see you!

NEW for 2006-2007: The computer lab got 15 brand new Dells. The CPUs are much smaller and the monitor is a flat panel screen. Come to Open House on October 5 to check them out! I'm sure that every student wants a new one. They are so crisp-looking!!

NEW for 2007-2008: I welcome a full-time aid, Liz, to the Computer Lab. She has been a great asset to the students and invaluable to me just in the short time that she has been in the Computer Lab.  I'm so proud that she has taken it upon herself to go through keyboarding lessons! She is really a woman of excellence!!! (Liz's 3 children also attend TGS.)

December 2007: Liz has resigned and is now concentrating on her home and her father.  She will be missed! We now welcome Lana as a full-time aid to the Computer Lab. She used to volunteer on Wednesday mornings. So she already knows how the lab is run! She will be a great asset to me and to all the students. Welcome!
