The students heard a lot from Ryan and Ms.
Barbara in the computer lab, characters in "Let's Discover Computers". They
learned how to use Mo Mouse by using the Mouse program on the Macintoshes in our
computer lab. They also enjoyed using the Mouse to play several games with
Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, too. We heard a story about "Grandma and Me".

October 2008 The kindergartners have been logging onto their computers. Some of them are doing a GREAT job!! This
takes some time for your child to learn their user name and password. But with your help, this could be an easier task. You see, your
child logs on with the user name of his/her last name followed by the first
initial of their first name. The password is a five digit number. So, if you
could help them learn to find their last name with initial of first name and their password
numbers at your home on Kiki Keyboard, this will help them log on much quicker. See the
following example: user
name: hoffmannj password: 12345. If you have any questions about this,
please email me. Ask for their logon user name and password at Conferences and
I'll be glad to give them to you. Thank you for your help!
We are also exploring Kid Pix 4 and all the tools. Ooooo! Aaaahhhh!
It's fun!
They love being able to log on and
explore in Kid Pix 4!!

November 2007
This month the excited kindergartners are
busy learning about Kid Pix 3.They have learned that their are stampers in Kid
Pix that can be placed on a document and these stampers come in 3 sizes: small,
medium, and large. The little ones have learned that "T" stands for "text" which
means that they can type their name and other words. Discovering that the pencil
makes lines, circles, and squares was a real eye-opener for these cuties! The
children are thoroughly enjoying this program! Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

2007
This month the curious students are finding
out about a few other tools in Kid Pix 3 like the paintbrush, the paint bucket,
the beaters, and the hand. They learned how to save and open which is taking a
lot of practice. But I'm sure that they will catch on soon! When they bring home
computer papers, please ask them how they made it. Enjoy their simple Christmas
cards! They come with lots of hard work and some giggles!

January 2008
We have started our alphabet booklet, which
will come home when it's done. We have found 5 items that begin with each of the
letters a, d, n, m, and s. Depending on how quickly we finish each letter, we
will probably get more letters done this month. This is really good practice in
using the different parts of Kid Pix 3 that your children have learned about and
they continue to get better and better at doing by working on this project.
Please ask your child to name some items that begin with each letter.
The precious little ones are now trying to
catch up on their color words. They have typed red and blue along with yellow
and green. Finding pictures in those colors is pretty easy using Kid Pix 3.

We finished the alphabet with the letters X,
V, Q, J, and Y. The real tough one was X. Did you notice that we did words that
had X in them? There--the alphabet was done! They finally did it!! Hope you
enjoy their booklet! The process of doing it was quite a journey--lots of fun!!
Ask your child about it!
