Currently, we are learning about the human body systems.
Other units we will cover this school year include (in no particular order) cells, astronomy, and weather.

Units that will be studied as the year progresses include (in no
particular order) natural disasters, forces, motion, energy,
planet Earth, and the flow
of water through various systems.

This year in 8th grade Science the
following will be studied: matter, water on Earth, astronomy, genetics and
heredity, and
a variety of environmental science topics such as wind farms, the neotropical
rainforest, "going green,"
etc... I'm sure more
topics will be added as the school year progresses.

The following is a list of supplies needed for reading class (note: most of these are also needed in science class):
Each student will be required to earn at least 55 points in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program. Students may take their AR test as soon as they finish their book. They are expected to have their book in class every day. Fridays will be our main AR reading day when students will have the majority of the class period to read their book. Please visit the following website to see if a certain book has a test written for it: www.ARbookfind.com This website also states the age level and point value given to the book.
Proper dress, participation, and a cooperative attitude will be expected in PE class.

Meet the
Teacher
Mrs. Sally Wenzel
I grew up on a farm just outside of Grand Ridge, Illinois. I have two older sisters who live in the area with their families. I attended Ottawa Township High School and then continued my education at Olivet Nazarene University majoring in biology and Spanish education. Also, I played intercollegiate volleyball and basketball for four years. After graduating with my Bachelor's degree, I taught high school biology for six years and during that time I earned my Master's degree in teaching and leadership from Saint Xavier University in 2004. More recently, I have been a stay-at-home mom to my two daughters, Brooke (3 years) and Krista (1 year). My husband, Ryan, is a real estate broker and owner of Wenzel Properties. We reside just outside of Ladd.
